Will owners have a contact number for the caretaker? Can owners ask the caretaker to do small jobs like garden maintenance?

In short:

  • The caretaking agreement covers the common property, work on owners’ exclusive use common property is not covered.
  • Aspire Facility Services can be contacted for this work if owners wish and Aspire welcome the chance to quote, but the caretaking agreement with the scheme doesn’t mean they have any obligation to consider other work directly for owners – though they are usually happy to quote.
  • The WhatsApp communities are often a useful source of trades recommendations.

The Secretary confirmed that owners are welcome to ask Aspire to quote for additional jobs on their property — it is not the caretaker’s obligation under the agreement, but they are happy to do so as it constitutes additional income for their business. Owners should be clear that work on lot property (including exclusive use common property such as courtyards) is not within the caretaker’s contract.

While the committee can not make specific recommendations, we will be developing some lists of contractor across various trades who owners and residents have used in the past and found to be reliable. If owners have contractors of this nature, please send their details to community@northmarque.net for potential inclusion in the list.
